Privacy Policy
Written to be factually accurate and not yet reviewed by a lawyer. It describes exactly what the app does as at 6 August 2026, and is scheduled for legal review against POPIA before public launch.
Who we are
Padel Vista ("Vista") is an app developed and operated by F4 Padel. Under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA), F4 Padel is the responsible party for the personal information described here.
For more information, contact admin@f4padel.co.za.
What this app does
You upload a short padel match clip. It is analysed by AI to count the shots each player hit, work out which player hit them, and score technique across a few broad shot categories. You get shot counts, scores, coaching notes and a summary.
Your video is NOT stored by us
This matters, so it is stated plainly and first.
- We do not keep your video. It is not saved to our servers or to any storage we control, and it is not kept after the analysis runs.
- To be analysed, the clip is sent to Google's Gemini API. Google holds it temporarily while processing and deletes it according to their own retention policy, which they control and we do not.
- We never share your video with anyone else, and we do not use it to train any AI model.
What we DO store
We keep the results derived from your video, tied to your account, so your history survives changing browser or device. Specifically:
Your account
- Email address
- Display name, if you sign in with Google and it provides one
- If you sign in with Google: the account identifier Google gives us (not your Google password — we never see it)
- When your account was created and when it was last used
Signing in
- Sign-in links and session tokens are stored only as cryptographic hashes, never as the values themselves, so they cannot be read out of our database and reused
- The browser/device description (user agent) of each signed-in session, so you can recognise your own sessions
- The IP address that requested a sign-in link, kept as a safeguard against abuse of the sign-in form
Each analysis
- The filename of the clip you uploaded, so your history is readable. Note that if you name your files after people, those names are stored — rename before uploading if you would rather they were not
- The length of the clip and when it was analysed
- The results: shot counts per player, the time each shot occurred, where the ball was, technique scores, the coaching evidence text and the written summary
- A short written description of the tracked player's appearance (for example "dark shirt, white racket"), which the analysis produces so you can identify which player was scored
- Technical details of the analysis itself — which AI model ran, how long it took, and internal quality checks — used to monitor and improve accuracy
Why we hold it, and on what basis
- To provide the service you asked for — this is processing necessary to perform our agreement with you (POPIA s11(1)(b))
- With your consent, given when you create an account and upload a clip (s11(1)(a)). You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account
- To keep the service working and fair — enforcing usage limits and preventing abuse, which is our legitimate interest (s11(1)(f))
We do not sell your information. We do not use it for advertising. We do not use it to train AI models.
Other people in your video
Padel is played two against two. Your clip will almost always contain other identifiable people — your partner, your opponents, sometimes bystanders — and the analysis produces information about all four players, including short descriptions of their appearance.
Please only upload footage you have the right to share, and tell the other players on court that you are recording and analysing it. Under POPIA they have rights over their own personal information too. We do not independently verify consent, and by uploading you confirm you have the right to.
Who else processes your information
These are our operators under POPIA. Each processes information only to deliver part of this service.
- Google (Gemini API) — analyses your video. Processed in the United States.
- Cloudflare — hosts the app and the database. Our database is located in Western Europe. Standard web infrastructure logs (IP address, timestamps) are generated as an ordinary part of serving any website.
- Resend / Amazon SES — delivers sign-in emails. Processed in the United States (us-east-1).
Information leaving South Africa
As above, some processing happens outside South Africa — principally in the United States and the European Union. POPIA section 72 permits this where the recipient is subject to laws or binding agreements providing comparable protection, or where you consent to the transfer. Each provider named above operates under its own published data-processing terms. For more information, contact admin@f4padel.co.za.
How long we keep it
- Your video: not kept by us at all.
- Analysis results and account: kept until you delete them or close your account.
- Sign-in links: expire 15 minutes after being requested and can only be used once.
- Sessions: expire 30 days after you sign in.
- Inactive accounts: kept until you delete them. We do not currently delete accounts for inactivity — if that changes, this policy will say so before it happens.
How we protect it
- All traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS)
- Sign-in tokens and session tokens are stored only as hashes
- We never store passwords, because the app does not use them
- Access to the live database is limited to those who operate the service
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal information, POPIA requires us to notify you and the Information Regulator, and we will.
Your rights under POPIA
You may:
- Ask what we hold about you, and get a copy
- Correct or delete information that is wrong, misleading, or no longer needed
- Delete your account, which removes your analyses and history
- Object to processing, or withdraw consent
- Complain — to us first, and to the Information Regulator if we do not resolve it
To exercise any of these, or for more information, contact admin@f4padel.co.za. You can also download everything we hold, or delete your account entirely, from your account page at any time without asking us.
Information Regulator (South Africa)
If we do not resolve your complaint, you may take it to the Information Regulator: inforegulator.org.za.
Children
This app is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly create accounts for or collect information from children under 18. POPIA gives the personal information of children special protection; if you believe a child's information has been processed here, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If how the app handles your information changes, this policy is updated in the same release as the change — not afterwards. Material changes will be brought to your attention when you next sign in.
